Google Pixel 8 Pro camera to use Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor

Google Pixel 8 Pro will be debuting very soon and as usual, we will have leaks surfacing on the internet. The current tip from Ice Universe is about the Google Pixel 8 Pro camera. Google seems to be making an upgrade with the Pixel 8 Pro camera. According to the source, the Pixel 8 Pro will employ Samsung’s largest ISOCELL GN2 sensor, which is 1/1.12-inch in size and has a natural resolution of 50MP, with a binning resolution of 12.5MP.

This results in an effective pixel size of 2.8m. For reference, that’s a significant improvement over last year’s Pixel 7 Pro, which featured a 50MP, 1/1.31-inch sensor. We didn’t get any more details about the Google Pixel 8 Pro camera other than this from Ice Universe – probably, we’ll get more in the coming weeks.

Other than the Pixel 8 Pro camera

Our first look at the Google Pixel 8 Pro in CAD-based leaks, courtesy of @OnLeaks and SmartPrix, shows off a design that’s pretty similar to the Pixel 7 Pro but with some noticeable and welcome tweaks.

For one thing, the phone looks to have finally abandoned its curved display, at least in part. The display lacks the characteristic curve featured on Google’s previous two Pro versions, but there’s still an opportunity for minor curves along the borders. In any case, considering the frustration associated with curved screens, it’s a significant improvement in our opinion.

Importantly, the display looks to have considerably thinner bezels all around compared to previous Google phones, however, this is a detail that’s easy to get wrong with CAD-based models. We won’t know for sure until we see the finished result. Should more leaks surface about the smartphone, we will keep you posted.
