When Google’s Picture Unblur function debuted late last year, it was pure beauty, allowing users to take blurry photographs and make them acceptable. While the function has stayed confined to Pixel 7 series smartphones, it appears like Google is working on a similar tool that will address fuzzy video – a video unblur feature.
Pixel 8 series’ video unblur feature
According to 9to5Google, who examined a new Google Photos APK, they uncovered a Video Unblur feature. The team was able to force the Interface to show in the Pictures app, but that’s pretty much where the trail ends for the time being.
Even though the Interface has been created, none of the Unblur features appear to operate. In addition, the team discovered new video overlays that may be utilized to adjust the color and tone of the video. Again, the overlays were present, but when applied, they had no impact. Although the features don’t appear to perform anything in their current form, the report speculates that they will arrive with the Pixel 8 series devices.
Although all of this seems intriguing, it’s worth noting that this video unblur feature was uncovered as part of a deep dive into a newly leaked Google Photos APK. Although the data is present, it does not guarantee that it will be included in the final build of the software.
Again, we’re just a few months away from Google I/O and the possible debut of Google’s new hardware, so we could hear about this feature sooner than we expect. That being said, ideally, this is a function that will be more generally available and not limited to the newest Pixel smartphones.
