POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro debuts globally

After a series of leaks, POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro have made their official debut. Both phones have different looks, and their internals differ slightly. Of course, that affected the price as the vanilla version has been priced lower than the Pro models.

POCO F5

The POCO F5 is a reworked Redmi 12 Turbo exclusive to the Chinese market. It has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that reaches 1000 nits of brightness and refreshes at 120Hz. The 2400 x 1080px resolution screen has a 480Hz max touch sampling rate, and it’s protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 Octa-core processor. It gets 12GB RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 ROM, which is not expandable via a Micro SD card. Outside of the box, the device runs Android 13 on top of MIUI 14, making it eligible for the next Android OS upgrade.

The primary 64 MP sensor has OIS, and it’s paired with an 8 MP ultra-wide and 2 MP macro shooter. POCO F5 can shoot 4k@30fps videos while the front 16MP camera is capped at 1080p@30/60fps.

Power is drawn from a 5000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. It also supports 30W wireless charging. And while you get a charging brick in the box, you will purchase a wireless charging pad to use the feature.

Other features of the POCO F5 include a headphone jack, NFC, IR Blaster, Infrared Port, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers. It’s available in Black, White, and Blue colors.

POCO F5 Pro has a unique design, unlike the vanilla version, a reworked Redmi Note 12 Turbo. It has a 6.67-AMOLED display that refreshes at 120Hz with a touch sampling rate of 480Hz. The peak brightness is capped at 1400 nit, and it is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The device uses a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Octa-core processor with up to 12GB of RAM. It has a multi-layered liquid cooling system for proper dissipation of heat. Outside of the box, the device runs Android 13 on top of MIUI 14 and would get Android 14 and Android 15 minimum.

For optics, it has the same camera system as the POCO F5, while the battery capacity is a tad bigger at 5160mAh. Both phones charge at the same speed (67 W). You get the charging brick inside the box. There’s an under-screen fingerprint optical scanner for biometrics.

POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro price and availability

The phones are available Globally, with a new update already released for every region. It starts at $379 for the POCO F5, but you can pre-order for $329.

POCO F5 Pro starts at $449, but the early bird price is $429. Both phones are available on official Xiaomi and retail stores across the globe.
