The POCO M2 becomes the latest device to bag the much anticipated MIUI 12.5 update. That was expected as the build has been in development for some time now. But because it needs more polishing, Xiaomi had to wait until everything was nearly perfect before rolling out the update. But even at that, the POCO M2 MIUI 12.5 update is still under testing to allow Mi Pilots to preview the build and see if there’s any bug missed during the internal test.
For starters, the Mi Pilots, also known as Beta Testers, are selected users with an exclusive privilege of testing MIUI builds before their public rollout. The idea is to limit the damages caused by buggy builds that seem to have taken over MIUI OTA rollouts. Of course, you can register, and if successful, you will join the exclusive list of Mi Pilot testers. You can check this post and learn how to apply for the MIUI beta tester program.
Meanwhile, the POCO M2 MIUI 12.5 comes with a stable MIUI based on Android 11. That took time to come, but it’s a good thing the device is getting both upgrades simultaneously. However, it might be harsh for a mid-range device to receive two OS upgrades simultaneously, given the instability of MIUI. Hence, we recommend that you backup your data before installing the build.
The update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJRINXM. It comes with all the features on the new MIUI OS and has bumped the Android security patch level to August 2021 to increase system security. To scan for the update, check the Updater app or use the link below.
