Early last year, POCO released the X2, which is a rebadged Redmi K30 4G. The device debuted with Android 10 on top of MIUI 11. It has since received the MIUI 12 update but has remained on Android 10. Even the support in terms of updates has dwindled in the last couple of months.
The POCO X2 has now gone months without any update, but it seems the Android 11 build will soon start rolling out. After Google officially released Android 11, the company announced that the POCO X2 was going to receive the update soon. Few weeks after that, they started testing the update internally but never showed any signs until yesterday, when the Redmi K30 4G started getting the Android 11 update.
The POCO X2 is a rebadged Redmi K30 4G. Both phones have the same development, and since the latter is now receiving the much-anticipated update, the POCO X2 Android 11 update could only be weeks away. Going with how Xiaomi rolls out updates, it’s usually two weeks between the Chinese and Global rollout. Hence, we expect to see the update in the coming weeks, and hopefully, there wouldn’t be any setbacks.
Meanwhile, those that have TWRP Recovery installed on their POCO X2 can side-load the ROM. That’s going to work if you have the latest version that supports Android 11, or it’s going to return an error message. If you have everything in place, then you can download the recovery from this link. It’s a Chinese ROM, and that might disable some Google services. Also, before flashing the ROM, make sure you backup your data because you’ll lose them.
For us, though, we would recommend that you wait for the POCO X2 Android 11 update to arrive via OTA. It won’t be worth the stress side-loading an update that will soon be released for everyone.
