A couple of days ago, Xiaomi sub-brand, Redmi, had a product launch in China. The event saw the unveiling of three new Redmi Note 9 phones: Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 9 5G, and Redmi Note 9 4G. The company has since released a stable update for the latter of the three, which arrived as MIUI 12.0.5.0 QJQCNXM. Going by the software version number, it’s for the Chinese variant, and now, the Chinese OEM has released, basically the same update for a device it’s yet to announce, which is supposedly the Redmi 9 Power.
The new update has a software designation, MIUI 12.0.1.0 QJQCINXM, which is for the India region. Normally, it’s after a device is announced that an update is released, but this could as well mean an imminent launch. Meanwhile, before this report, the device already appeared on the FCC listing. On the certification website, it was listed with a model number, M2010J1SG, and named Redmi 9T. It seems the device would be sold as Redmi 9T in the global market, while in India, it will be known as Redmi 9 Power.
That looks like it with the current information from the stock MIUI 12 ROM released for the Redmi Note 9 4G in China. It shows that a new Redmi phone dubbed Redmi 9 Power with a model number M2010J1SI, which is for the Indian market, will soon be unveiled. The device has also showed up on Google supported device list with a code name “lime” which again corresponds to the update that was released today. Details show that the device will feature a different camera arrangement by adding a 2MP Macro shooter.
Aside from the additional sensor, the specs of the supposed Redmi 9 Power remain the same with Redmi Note 9 4G. It’s still unclear when Xiaomi plans to announce these phones, but we hope to find out in the coming days. The launch is probably imminent since it has already released an update for the device. Nevertheless, we will still wait for official confirmation from the company, and we hope to get that in the coming days.
