Xiaomi might have moved to the Enhanced Edition of MIUI 12.5, but some popular phones are waiting for the update. The Chinese company is currently the best smartphone company in terms of shipping, and it is the Redmi 9 and Redmi 9A that got them there. However, it’s taking ages to upgrade the device to Android 11 and MIUI 12.5, but that could be changing soon. According to reports, the Xiaomi Redmi 9A MIUI 12.5 update release is imminent.
The Xiaomi Redmi 9A is eligible for at least one Android OS upgrade. Having debuted with Android 10 on top of MIUI 11, the device will get the Android 11 update and MIUI 12.5. The release of the latter seems imminent, according to the report, but there’s a catch. Xiaomi is expected to release the Redmi 9A MIUI 12.5 update in China based on Android 10. They’ll then roll it out to the global variants, but with Android 11. That’s to say that Global models will get an Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update.
Both releases are said to happen at the same time, unfortunately, we don’t know when exactly. The report did say soon, and given how swift Xiaomi can act with an update, we’re likely to see that build start seeding this month. Nevertheless, we expect the Chinese variants to receive the update before it starts making their way to international models.
That said, you can keep an eye on our tracker page to know when the update becomes available in your region. Also, Xiaomi has announced that the Enhanced Edition of MIUI 12.5 is coming to the Redmi Note 8, Note 9, and Note 10 series in China. Initially, we thought it’ll be premium phones exclusive, but it looks like the update is for every eligible device.
