While Google will soon release the consumer version of Android 13, and Xiaomi planning to follow immediately after the release, some phones in the company’s stable are yet to receive Android 11. That’s the case with the Redmi 9C Android 11 update, but that changes now as the global users start getting the upgrade.
Xiaomi has released the Redmi 9C Android 11 update with a stable MIUI 12.5 to global users. The update is seeding with a version number MIUI 12.5.4.0 RCRMIXM and weighs 1.9GB. It brings a stable MIUI based on Android 11 and July 2022 security patch. Supposedly, the update has increased system security and stability while improving performance and fixing bugs.
Nevertheless, since it’s a cross-section Android upgrade, it’s likely to contain some bugs. Before installing the update, we recommend backing up your files, as there have been reports of issues after the upgrade that could be fixed with a factory reset.
It’s unclear when the update will extend to other regions, also, it’s proven difficult for some to upgrade using the Recovery ROM, but you can enable “receive update early” in the Updater app settings to see if that helps. Otherwise, you should wait for the public release, hopefully in the coming days.
