More devices have picked the Android 12 -based MIUI 12.5 beta update in the past couple of days. It looks as if Xiaomi will be making alterations to its approach of upgrading its devices to a new Android OS. With MIUI 13 expected to arrive in the coming weeks, these phones that have received the Android 12 beta will receive an MIUI 13 based Android 12 build. That could mean that Xiaomi, like Samsung, Oppo, and other OEMs will push the current Android OS with its latest MIUI build.
Xiaomi MIUI and Android OS upgrades are not related, but it seems that’s about to change. Xiaomi has been swiftly pushing Android 12-based MIUI updates to closed beta groups in China. These users will probably receive the MIUI 13 build first, followed by the public release. It makes sense that since the current update is based on Android 12, all MIUI 13 builds will come with the current Android OS. Of course, that’s only for eligible devices, as those that have elapsed their support will receive MIUI 13 only.
Luckily, the Redmi K30S Ultra / Mi 10T and Redmi K30 Pro / POCO F2 Pro Android 12 beta have been released. That confirms their eligibility and that the devices will receive the next iteration of Android OS with MIUI 13. However, it’s unclear when Xiaomi plans to release the update, but we hope to learn about that after the supposed December 16 launch.
Meanwhile, the Redmi K30S Ultra / Mi 10T and Redmi K30 Pro / POCO F2 Pro Android 12 beta is seeding fro the closed beta groups in China. It comes with the current closed beta build – MIUI 12.5 V21.11.30. The update brings features of Android 12, improvement, and optimization. And if you’re among the testers, you should check the updater app.
Unfortunately, there’s no ETA on when the update will arrive on global models. Nevertheless, we expect the rollout in the coming weeks, probably after the release of MIUI 13. Meanwhile, you can download the Chinese beta ROM if you’re eligible below.
