Today seems to be for the Indians, as two phones in that region have started receiving the stable MIUI 12.5 update. It was the POCO M2 that started pushing the update, which came along with Android 11, and now, the Redmi Note 10 MIUI 12.5 update in India has been released. Interestingly, it seems the rollout is for the public, as it’s not tagged ‘Mi Pilots’ release. Hence, the update will arrive on your device soon, or you can install it via the links below.
The Redmi Note 10 MIUI 12.5 rollout started with the global variants before extending to Indonesia, Turkey, and Russia. And while the global models are patiently waiting, the update has now landed in India. It seems like a public release, and that means you will get a notification for a new update in the next few hours. However, it might still take days given the nature of OTA, but there’s always a second option.
Meanwhile, the update is hitting eligible units with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RGKINXM – and weighs in at 475MB. It comes with the features of the new MIUI OS to address some problems faced by the device users. Unfortunately, it brings the second space feature, and hence, you can only access it by a third-party app. Also, the launcher compatibility issue and the square chat bubbles are persistent. Hopefully, a new update will arrive to fix those problems in the future.
And while the global models saw their Android security patch level pushed to July 2021, those in India are getting the June 2021 patch. But that means the build has been in development for something. We expect a new update in the coming weeks with the latest security patch. Meanwhile, you should go ahead and download the current build to upgrade your MIUI OS.
