The Redmi Note 12 is the latest device to start getting an upgrade to Android 15 with a stable HyperOS 2 update. It’s a Global rollout limited to a few users for preview with the hope of a public release in the coming weeks. However, you can install it manually with an authorized Mi Beta account.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Android 15-based HyperOS 2 update is rolling out with version number OS2.0.5.0. VMTMIXM and weighs 4.7 GB. It comes with all the expected features except a few AI ones exclusive to flagship phones due to the resources allocated to them. Aside from these changes, the update has bumped the Android security patch level to November 2024, with the OS version moving to 15.
Meanwhile, the latest release is limited to a few users globally (Global ROM users). It is probably yet to arrive on your device, as the company allows two weeks for testing to see if there will be any major bugs on the build. Luckily, we haven’t seen any serious issues since the rollout started, meaning the public release might start sooner.
How to download the Redmi Note 12 Android 15-based HyperOS 2
The update is rolling out via the updater app. Xiaomi has yet to upload the Recovery ROM to their server, and we can’t access it. You can check back in the next few days or visit the updater app to see if it is already available for your device. Before installing the update, we recommend backing up your files, as the build is the first cross-section Android upgrade arriving for the phone and might have a few bugs.
