Google officially released the stable Android 12 a couple of days ago by pushing the source to AOSP. That means developers can start working on developing custom ROM as usual, and they have done just that. They have since released an Android 12-based custom ROM for the Redmi K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro. And thanks to folks over there at XDA, they have now released the first Redmi Note 8 Android 12-based custom ROM.
Also, the Redmi Note 8T is getting the same treatment. An Android 12-based custom ROM has been released for the device. However, considering that the new version of Android is barely a few days old, you might experience some glitches. As such, we won’t recommend flashing the ROM on your device if it’s your daily driver. Nevertheless, if you don’t mind the minor issues, as it seems the build is in good shape, you can proceed with the flashing.
Meanwhile, before flashing the Redmi Note 8 Android 12-based custom ROM or that of Note 8T, it’s important to know what’s working and what’s not working. And thanks to the developers of these ROMs, they have made that possible. It’s good to know that AOSP means Android Open Source Project, which is essentially Pixel phones stock ROM without Gapps.
