Yesterday, Xiaomi released the May security patch update for Redmi Note 8 Pro. It was believed to be just a patch build as it didn’t include any other thing on the changelog except for Netflix HD streaming. However, it turns out the update also came along with Stable Android 10 in Europe, likewise for the Global units.
The update is arriving for the EEA users with a build number – MIUI 11.0.3.0 QGGEUXM. It weighs in at 531MB. For users running Android 10 already, the only change you’ll notice is the updated Android security patch, now dated 2020-05-01. You get a new operating system ( Android 10) after downloading the update, that’s if you’re running Android Pie.
Redmi Note 8 Pro stable Android 10 in Europe Changelog
System
- Updated Android security patch to May 2020
- Increased System security
- Stable MIUI 11 based on Android 10
- Widevine L1 certificate
The Widevine L1 certificate means you can now enjoy HD video playback on Netflix. Before the update, the device supports HDR playback, but that’s gone now. You’ve got to stick with HD and hope subsequent updates will add back the HDR support.
Also, it seems the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 10 update in Europe left a bug. According to feedback in the Mi community forum, the Android system now consumes more battery. However, that shouldn’t stop you from downloading the update as it always does with every new update. The battery needs time to adapt to the new update and after that, everything will go back to normal.

Global users are getting the update as well. It brought the much anticipated Android 10 update, just like it did for the EEA users. We added a link so you can download and manually flash the update, but that’s up to you. Follow this link to download.
