Xiaomi announced it’ll upgrade the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro to Android 11 at the same time last year. The duo has already bagged the update in multiple regions, but the rollouts are different. Redmi Note 8 Pro is receiving both MIUI 12.5 and Android 11 simultaneously, while the Redmi Note 8 is still waiting for the latest iteration of MIUI. It received the Android 11 with a stable MIUI 12 build months ago, and there’s now a plan to start pushing the Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.5 update. Also, according to a recent report, the Redmi Note 8 Pro MIUI 12.5 update in India will be released soon.
The Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.5 update will start from China, as always. Hopefully, it won’t take as much time before it starts hitting the global Models, given what we witnessed during the Android 11 rollout. The Chinese models received two Android 11-based MIUI 12 updates before they even got to Global variants. That took months, and we hope for a swift deployment this time.
Meanwhile, the update will have a version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RCOCNXM. Depending on the time of release, it might arrive with the August patch. Of course, expect the update to bring features of the new MIUI OS. However, that means a disabled Google Service Framework. Yes, after upgrading to MIUI 12.5, Google services stop working on the Chinese ROM.
As for the Redmi Note 8 Pro MIUI 12.5 update in India, it has a version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RGGINXM. The build is still under testing, but it will start rolling out very soon. And because it is a ‘Global’ ROM, the Google Play Services/ Store are intact. Hence, you should install the update when prompted, and hopefully, it will be this month.
