The Redmi Note 9 series successor – Redmi Note 10 series – debuted a couple of days ago with Android 11 outside-of-the-box. Hence, the next major upgrade for the device will be MIUI 12.5, while the Redmi Note 9 is expected to get it after Android 11. That makes sense, given that the Redmi 10X 4G has already bagged the update in China. Both phones have the same development, design, and run the same processor, and as such, the Redmi Note 9 Android 11 update should start rolling out very soon.
Unfortunately, we don’t know when the update will start seeding, but we expect to see the build soon. A Moderator in the Mi community forum confirmed that the update will come just before the MIUI 12.5 starts rolling out. According to him, ” from what we know, Android 11 will be coming first (to the Redmi Note 9), followed by MIUI 12.5 update. We do not have an ETA. MIUI 12.5 is likely to roll out in Q2 2021 (starting with flagships).”
Of course, the global MIUI 12.5 rollout won’t commence until next month, starting with flagship phones. However, before that, the Redmi Note 9 Android 11 update must have been released, at least, for a limited number of people. That has been the method of rolling out MIUI updates, and we don’t expect a different approach this time. The only thing is to wait for the update to start rolling out, and given how swiftly the company is rolling out the Android 11 update, we won’t wait much longer again.
