The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G / Mi 10T Lite becomes the latest Xiaomi phone to start receiving the stable MIUI 12.5 update. Both phones are slightly the same except for a few tweaks and the markets they are available. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is exclusive to the Chinese market, while the Mi 10T Lite is the global version. There’s also Mi 10i, which is exclusive to the Indian market. But for now, only the Chinese version has started receiving the new iteration of the MIUI OS skin.
Meanwhile, with Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G / Mi 10T Lite stable MIUI 12.5 now available in China, it’s now a matter of time before other regions start getting the update. It has reduced the power consumption and background memory usage by 25% while improving the system stability. Perhaps, the new update is essential for optimization to address all the problems facing the company’s MIUI. That much like it given the features it presents. And going by the feedback so far, there has been lots of improvement.
And while the update seems to improve the performance and stability of the device, it has disabled the Google framework. It means that after upgrading to MIUI 12.5, Google Play Store and services will be wiped from your device. Unfortunately, there’s no way to side-load those apps unless you unlock the bootloader and flash global firmware. Hence, you shouldn’t upgrade the Redmi Note 9 Pro / Mi 10T Lite stable MIUI 12.5 update in China if you use these Google apps.
The update has a version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RJSCNXM – and weighs in at about 688MB. Again, it’s for the Chinese variants but will soon extend to other regions. For now, we don’t know when, and hence, you should follow our tracker page for new information.
