The close beta update is where Xiaomi tests new features before deciding whether to bring them to stable ROM users. These groups of testers get a new update on a daily or weekly basis. And each release comes with a new feature and improvements. It has been said that beta updates are now more stable than “Stable Updates,” which isn’t Ideal, but with MIUI 12.5 and all the features it presents, Xiaomi is out to address issues with MIUI.
Meanwhile, as expected, a new closed beta update has arrived with two new features. The update came with a version number – V12.5-21.6.7, meaning it was released on June 7, 2021. Of course, it should have appeared on all devices participating in the closed beta tests. With this new build, Xiaomi has revamped the Floating Window and Reverse Wireless Charging UI to include some fascinating features.
According to reports, it’s now easier to open floating windows, given that you now drag upwards instead of towards the corner. Meanwhile, the more interesting feature comes in reverse charging. Xiaomi didn’t only revamp the UI but also added a charging limit. With that, you can set a limit where you battery percentage reaches for the Reverse Wireless Charging to stop.
There’s no doubt the new Reverse Wireless Charging feature is a great one, but of course, it will work on devices that support reverse charging. That’ll help control charging as you no longer needs to be keeping a close look, having set your limit with the new charging limit.
Nevertheless, the stable ROM users will wait for a while before they get this feature. It’ll obviously start from China before making its way globally. We expect a quick deployment this time since only flagship Xiaomi phones support reverse charging. Also, the number is not much, and hence, it will be easy to roll out the feature in a shorter period.
