Further details on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus camera blur issue fix

Earlier this year, some customers of the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus encountered an issue referred to as the “banana blur.” This problem manifested as a persistently out-of-focus area in images captured with the 50MP primary camera, particularly noticeable when photographing close-ups.

Samsung has acknowledged the Galaxy S23 Plus camera blur issue and provided an explanation. According to the company, the rear wide-angle camera on the S23 and S23 Plus has a wide aperture, which aids in low-light photography but can result in a more pronounced selective focus, causing the background of photos to appear blurry, especially in close-up shots.

Samsung has stated its intention to address this issue in a future software update, although no specific timeline has been provided for the release of the patch. In the meantime, the company has suggested a couple of workarounds as potential solutions. One suggestion is to step back if the subject is within 30cm (12 inches) to mitigate the blur. Another technique involves capturing the shot while holding the phone vertically, as holding it horizontally or at an angle may contribute to the blurry background.

Given the time that has passed since the issue emerged, it is understandable that Samsung users are eager for a prompt resolution and expect the company to expedite the release of the necessary fixes.
