There has been uncertainty about whether the new Galaxy S23 is going to be taking up the Snapdragon chipset worldwide or the Exynos but clues have come to suggest that it is the earlier. The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is set to be Snapdragon SoC exclusive.
Qualcomm’s earnings call gave a good prediction of the Galaxy S23 being Snapdragon SoC exclusive. During the Qualcomm earnings call, the Qualcomm CFO mentioned that the brand should be getting a strong second half of Q1 2023 and this coincides with the early sales of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series (the smartphone is set to debut sometime in February).
In Akash Palkhiwala’s words(Qualcomm CFO), “So from a March quarter perspective, you’re right, the benefit from the Samsung launch for the new phone would be in the second half of the March quarter. So it comes in towards the end of the quarter, but that will be an advantage, whereas our share from 75% in G S22 goes up to global share in G S23.”
Furthermore, Qualcomm mentioned that different from the 75 percent chipset share in the Samsung Galaxy S22, it will be a global share in the case of the S23. Strengthening this statement further, there’s a multiyear partnership between Qualcomm and Samsung which the Qualcomm CEO confirmed.
Galaxy S23 series to be Snapdragon SoC exclusive, but which chip?
Earlier rumours suggested that the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and the Ultra version will be housing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. According to reports from Weibo, Digital Chat station to be precise, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is equipped with a Cortex-X3 core, two cortex-A720 cores, and two cortex-A710 cores, alongside three Cortex-A510 cores.
