The next generation of Samsung Galaxy Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, will be coming in late this year, and – as usual – leaks will surface revealing details of this wearable.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 curved glass
According to Ice Universe, Samsung intends to reintroduce a curved glass design on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, which will be released later this year. It would be in sharp contrast to Samsung’s previous wristwatch launches, which have mostly used flat displays. The Galaxy Watch 5 and its predecessor, the Watch 4, both arrived with totally flat glass over the display, but the newest model uses sapphire.
Yet it wasn’t long ago that Samsung was utilizing curved glass on smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 and its predecessor both used glass that was curved around the edges but not to the same extent.
It remains to be seen how Samsung will apply curved glass on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, although it is quite probable that it will not be as aggressive as Google’s Pixel Watch. Although Google’s watch employs curved glass to create a “dome” form, it’s a reasonable bet that Samsung will use the design to disguise the bezel on its wristwatch, as it has on smartphones in the past.
Apple, for example, employs curved glass on the Apple Watch, which probably inspired the move. We don’t know any more details about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, but it’s expected to appear later this year, maybe alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5.
