The Korean tech giant, Samsung, has got another tech feat up their sleeve and that will be a display that can rotate 360 degrees. At CES 2023, Samsung Display, a division of the firm that produces its panels, displayed the new prototype display and hinge. According to business spokesman John Lucas, the “Flex In & Out” display can fold inward and outward and can spin 360 degrees.
Additionally, the display has a new type of hinge that, according to claims, results in a far less noticeable wrinkle. That’s because the “water-drop hinge” might enable the display to take on a looser shape when folded inward, like a water drop. And(of course)the display would be less stressed by this finer hinge.
When will we see this display that can rotate 360 degrees?
A display that can rotate 360 degrees or rather something similar surfaced sometime in 2021 at South Korea’s International Meeting for Information Displays (IMID). By something similar, we mean, the display folded like an S which is close to a 360° rotation.
On the Fold 4 which debuted in August, there was nothing like a display that can rotate 360 degrees, rather we had a smartphone that could just fold in one direction. However, the new screen may probably be incorporated into the next Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. According to rumours, the smartphone might have a less obvious crease because of a similar hinge design.
The design would correct what some consider to be a weakness in the “U”-a shaped hinge that results in a noticeable wrinkle on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Additionally, it would bring the Galaxy Z Fold 5 closer to competing folding smartphones like the Oppo Find N2 and the third-generation Motorola Razr that have less obvious creases. Oh well, till the Fold 5 debuts in August (probably), let’s keep our focus on the Samsung Galaxy S23 expected next month.
