Snapdragon 845 vs Snapdragon 835 Specs comparison

Is all about Snapdragon 845 vs Snapdragon 835 Specs. Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset finally made it to a smartphone in Samsung Galaxy S9 duo, recently launched Zenfone 5 and Sony Xperia XZ2. Still early before users starting reviewing the performance of the new chipset.

Meanwhile, we have seen the performance of Snapdragon 835, from the fast and optimized performance to more advanced graphics operations. But this chip is likely to face some challenges with latest Samsung duo flagship, Asus Zenfone 5 and Xperia XZ2, all with Snapdragon 845 chip.

The new chipset didn’t record any improvement node, as the production was done at 10nm, though the second generation process is always more optimized and offer advanced performance on a low power consumption.

According to Qualcomm “our new Spectra camera and Adreno graphics architectures boost power efficiency by up to 30 percent compared to our previous generations,” therefore, we will notice optimized battery consumption when running higher demanding graphics apps, or video capturing with Snapdragon 845 chipset compare to 835 chip.

Snapdragon 845 vs Snapdragon 835 Specs comparison

Production process

Snapdragon 845 was built on second-gen 10nm (LPP), while Snapdragon 835 was build on first-gen 10nm (LPE) process. According to review, chips under second generation over the years has record optimized and advanced performance with lower power consumption.

Processor Cores

Both chipset has a total of 8 cores, clocking at different frequencies. Snapdragon 846 has Octa core 4x Kryo 385 @ 2.8GHz (custom Cortex-A75) + 4x Kryo 385 @ 1.8GHz (custom Cortex-A55), while 835 gear has 4x Kryo 280 @ 2.45GHz + 4x Kryo 280 @ 1.90GHz.

Thus, since Snapdragon 845 record a slight high frequency band, you will also get a slit speed in terms of performance on your Snapdragon 845 powered device.

GPU

The new Qualcomm chipset is equipped with Adreno 630 GPU. It has the following features; 2 x 2400×2400 @ 120 FPS (VR), physical object detection during VR sessions. For the Snapdragon 835, the GPU is Adreno 540.

Both chipset has different download speed but same upload speed, which entails a better downloading speed for Snapdragon 845.

Video capture/ video play back

Snapdragon has been constructed to record up 4K Ultra HD Video capture @60FPS. On video play back, it has been equipped with undisclosed features.

For Snapdragon 835, it has been constructed to record up 4K HD video @30FPS.

Considering the video capture/ video play back, both chips records 4K video, but with Snapdragon 845, you will achieve the maximum definition at a quicker time.

Megapixels support/ image sensor processor

Both Chip, is capable of supporting dual 16MP camera sensor, and up to 32MP on a single sensor.

For image sensor processor, Snapdragon 845 records the following features; Dual 14 bits ISPs, Qualcomm® Spectra 280 image signal processor, while 835 gear records Qualcomm ® Spectra 180 image signal processor, 14- bits ISPs, clear sight feature, 2 x image processor.

Other specs of the chipset includes Qualcomm® Quick charge 4, while CPU bit architecture has been kept at 64-Bits for both chipset.

Therefore, haven critically analyzed both Qualcomm® chips, (Snapdragon 845 vs Snapdragon 835) not lots of changes had happened, it was only a slight upgrade. Thus, the performance of the new chipset though will record some improvements, but will not be so wild. It’s now left for users currently using Snapdragon835 powered device to decide if it worth the switch.
