Stable Android 13 for Xiaomi and Redmi phones might not start rolling out till November

It has been weeks since Google released the stable Android 13 update to Pixel users. Xiaomi is currently working on rolling out the new OS to their eligible devices that have been testing the build. However, the Chinese company might not release the stable Android 13 for Xiaomi and Redmi phones till November.

Stable Android 13 for Xiaomi and Redmi

Xiaomi started testing Android 13 after the first developer preview and has since released multiple builds based on MIUI 13. Currently, only those participating in the MIUI development version tests have received the update. Of course, only a few devices are eligible for the Android 13 beta build for now, which Xiaomi is rolling out with MIUI 13.1. Perhaps, the company is using MIUI 13.1 instead of MIUI 14, as we expect the stable Android 13 for Xiaomi and Redmi phones to be based on MIUI 14.

According to multiple reports, Xiaomi is already testing MIUI 14 internally. Their upcoming flagship phone – Xiaomi 13 series, already has an MIUI 14 build based on Android 13 under testing. Also, the likes of the Redmi K50 series, Xiaomi 12S series, and Xiaomi 12T Pro are all testing the upcoming MIUI version.

Xiaomi will likely announce the new version of MIUI at Xiaomi 13 series unveiling event. The series, which includes Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 13 Lite, is expected to debut in November. They will debut running Android 13 on top of MIUI 14, and we expect eligible Xiaomi and Redmi phones to start getting the update after the event.

As usual, the rollout will start in China and gradually extend to the global models. However, given that there is already a Global version of the Android 13-based MIUI 14 build under testing, the rollout might commence simultaneously. Hopefully, we will get more information about the company’s plan in the coming weeks. You can also follow us on Telegram to stay updated.
