While we expected the stable Android 13 update to start seeding next month, Google has just released the new Android OS to Pixel owners. It’s currently exclusive to Pixels, with other OEMs likely to start rolling out the upgrade in the coming weeks/months.
Google released Android 13 beta 4.1 a couple of weeks ago to address issues reported from Beta 4. The company then delayed the August security patch, hinting at an imminent release of the stable Android 13 update. And as expected, the upgrade is now live for all Pixel phones running Android 12.1.
To download the stable Android 13 update on your Pixel phone, head to Settings>>About Phone>>Software update. For those already running Android 13 beta 4.1, a minor release has been initiated to the stable version, which brings the August security patch.
Meanwhile, Android 13 focuses on privacy and security. It’s also enhanced the Material You design debuted with Android 12 and other improvements. Aside from the minor improvements and changes, which are available on the Google website, the stable Android 13 fixed over 100 bugs. The stable Android 13 update is currently exclusive to Pixel 4, Pixel 4XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, and Pixel 6 Pro. You can download the Factory image and OTA via this link.
Meanwhile, we expect other OEMs to release the Android 13 update based on their in-house Android skin in the coming weeks.
