Android 13 beta 4 starts seeding for Pixel Users

The Android 13 should be on the way soon since the Android 13 beta 4 is the last beta release. The beta is now available for a wide range of Pixel users. As usual, there will be improvements, bug fixes as well as some features we might not know about.

Looking back at the previous beta releases, we can conclude that the releases keep getting better and better. Judging by what happened in the case of Android 12, the software reached peak stabilization by August 2021 and the consumer launch started around October. So, it shouldn’t be any different in Android 13

Meanwhile, we haven’t gotten any notable tweaks from the Android 13 beta 4, however, Google says the beta build gives developers “everything you need to complete your testing”. As mentioned earlier, bug fixes and stability improvements alongside software polishing should be included in the Android 13 Beta 4 in addition to a few features the Big G highlighted that developers should expect.

What’s new?

The Big G mentioned 3 particular features coming in with the Android 13 beta 4. They are:

  • Runtime permission for notifications: The latest version of Android introduces new runtime permission for sending notifications from an app. Make sure you understand how the new permission works, and plan on targeting Android 13 (API 33) as soon as possible.
  • Clipboard preview: Make sure your app hides sensitive data in Android 13’s new clipboard preview, such as passwords or credit card information.
  • JobScheduler prefetch: JobScheduler now tries to anticipate the next time your app will be launched and will run any associated prefetch jobs ahead of that time. If you see prefetch jobs, test that they are working as expected”

Availability of the Android 13 beta 4

Google disburses the Android 13 beta 4 to the Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4 XL, and the Pixel 4. You can move to get the beta release if your device is part of any of the aforementioned smartphones. Meanwhile, if you find the installation quite complex, then you can get a guide on how to install it.
