Google has taken another step in ensuring the safety and privacy of users via tech and it’s quite amazing. You can know who sees your location on your Android phone and this article will be guiding you through how you can go about it.

who sees your location

The location of your Android phone is one of its most private features because it is usually by your side. Anybody who has such information can monitor you for whatever purpose they wish.

Because geolocation is such a personal topic, Android has features that enable you to restrict who and what apps may view your location, as well as when it can be accessed. As we upgraded to Android 12, we noticed a new popup emerge when we accessed new apps. who sees your location

The permission requests are questioned if you want to share your exact or approximate location, which is useful if applications like Accuweather just need to know a town or county and not your exact location. Of course, a location is still a location, so it may be worthwhile to investigate whether applications may be sharing your location without your knowledge.

Steps to stop who sees your location

Toggle off the location

To stop who sees your location can be done with one tap, thanks to Quick Settings. You can just scroll down and toggle it off if it was on.

Choose the apps that can access your location

Another way to stop who sees your location is by giving access to just the apps you want to access your location. You can manage which applications have access to your location by going to App location permissions. You may choose when an app can access your location and if it can use your precise position in each app.

Manage how you share your location on Google Maps

Google Maps is one apparent software that publishes your Android phone’s location for others to view. While the function that allows you to share your location with others is fantastic, make sure to verify who may view it. Friends and family members are usually alright, even if you revealed your location to a coworker or another individual to make it temporary.

Just go to Google Maps and select your profile photo. Check the location-sharing list for unauthorized people. It’s unlikely that someone can force themselves to access your location without your consent, but there may be individuals on your list that you don’t want to know your location for whatever reason.

Check your Google sign-in activity

Someone who has access to your Google Account has access to your location, as well as other very sensitive information. Someone who has access to your Google Account can also access your devices using Find my Device. Of course, a found phone will display a notification that it was retrieved, which is still not ideal.

If you receive a message that your device’s location has been taken from Find My Device, go to myaccount.google.security right away. Next, choose Password to begin the password-changing procedure. This will sign you out of everything. After that, make sure you have 2-Step Verification set to the correct number.

While the last measure is certainly drastic, the situation is not impossible. Following the techniques outlined above, you should be able to establish who or what is utilizing your location and has access to up-to-date data. Examine your programs, double-check your permissions, and maintain your accounts up to date. With that, you should be able to protect your privacy and prevent unauthorized people from viewing the location of your Android phone.
