In the fast-paced world of technology, new advancements constantly emerge, and one such development that may revolutionize wireless communication is the secured and faster Li-Fi.
A secured and faster Lifi: WiFi’s replacement
According to recent sources, the IEEE standards committee has introduced the IEEE 802.11bb light communications standard, which encompasses the promising secured and faster LiFi technology. Li-Fi employs infrared light to transmit data, offering secure and lightning-fast wireless optical connections, potentially outpacing traditional Wi-Fi speeds by up to 100 times.
Li-Fi technology utilizes light signals instead of radio frequencies, minimizing radio interference and offering improved data transmission. The International Telecommunication Union’s G.9991 standard is already in competition with Li-Fi, powering Signify’s data-beaming lights. Leading the charge, pureLiFi unveiled the Light Antenna One system, which fulfills 802.11bb specifications. This innovative module can be integrated into smartphones, boasting data rates of up to 1Gbps.
Although Light Antenna One currently communicates effectively with devices within a 10-foot range and has a 24-degree field of vision when transmitting data, it marks a significant milestone in enabling mass integration of he secured and faster LiFi. Furthermore, Li-Fi’s download data rates are projected to reach up to 224 Gbps, surpassing the average Wi-Fi 7 download speed of 40Gbps.
Li-Fi offers enhanced security due to its ability to penetrate barriers less easily, making it less susceptible to signal leakage. By incorporating Li-Fi transmitters into workplace light fixtures, rapid connectivity can be provided to devices like Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and gaming devices. Additionally, minimal latencies offered by Li-Fi promise seamless experiences for users.
