Wireless Android Auto connection adds to the other features from Google making the software experience even better. Further details on the Wireless Android Auto connection

Google offered a significant extension to wireless Android Auto in 2020, bringing the feature to virtually every country that supported the wired version. The platform was then expanded to other nations in 2021, all of which instantly featured wireless capability. For a long time, just two nations lacked access to wifi Android Auto. Russia was one of the two, but it received backing in late 2020. Japan was the final country on the list to lack the wireless version of Android Auto. That appears to have changed today.

Google hasn’t made an official statement, but in an update to a support website, the firm has removed the qualification that mentioned Japan’s absence of wireless support, and now listed the country as having complete support for Android Auto in any form.

The obvious reason for the country’s lack of wireless Android Auto compatibility was a regulation that forbade the use of the WiFi 5.2GHz band outside, including in automobiles, but the law was altered in late 2022 to remove that limitation.

It’s unclear whether a wireless capability is required, however, it might be due to an app update or a server-side change. Even with that in mind, automobiles manufactured in Japan are likely to lack the necessary hardware or will require their modifications to allow wireless Android Auto. Still, it’s fantastic to have the function activated.

With this modification, wireless Android Auto is now available in every nation where the wired version is available. There are still a lot of places where Android Auto isn’t available, so that’s probably the next thing Google will do.
