Xiaomi allegedly pulls Android 10 from Mi A3 for the third time

For the third time in a row, Xiaomi once again pulls Android 10 from Mi A3. The last Android 10 update started arriving on the Global unit a few days ago, but it was just another buggy build.

Xiaomi promised Android 10 on Mi A3 in mid-February but had to wait until the last day in the said month to start dropping the update. The rollout only lasted for a few hours before it was pulled after a series of bugs were reported.

Users complained of:

  • Fingerprint unlock option disappearing
  • Mismatch of fonts
  • System reboots in looping after a video call with some apps
  • Camera won’t work in Pro mode
  • UI corners not working as intended
  • Qualcomm report on public stable

The company acknowledged the bugs and promised to roll out a fix. They did send out an update that arrived with V11.0.8.0. According to few people who jumped on that build, it fixed the battery draining issues and that of the fingerprint scanner, but left a few bugs, and was later pulled.

Towards the end of last month, the company dropped the March security patch but was another underwhelming update, which was for units still in Android Pie. It was only two days ago when the units started getting a notification for a new Android 10

But even though the last Android 10 update came with a different version number [V 11.0 11.0], it wasn’t different from the first build [V11.0.7.0] as most of the bugs were still there. The early adopters complain of shutter speed, unresponsive fingerprint scanner, and setting suggestion bugs.

However, not all Mi A3 units are facing the said bugs, with a good number of users saying the last update works fine. But then, the majority of the users kept complaining of bugs on Mi Global community, and from the looks of it, the company has again pulled Android 10 from Mi A3.

The news came from Xiaomi’s support, and from the conversation, the representative wasn’t very sure if the update was pulled. Remember that updates are sent out in batches, and most times when the user doesn’t act fast, it’s pulled. But it is not the first time Xiaomi has pulled Android 10 from Mi A3, so we believe it is one of those situations.

We recommend you remain in Android Pie until a proper build comes along and fix all these bugs here. We’ll sure let you know when the time is right.
