Xiaomi is currently rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update to the third batch of eligible phones in China. The Redmi K30 / POCO X2 started receiving the update a couple of days in that region, hinting at an imminent global release. Unfortunately, the global rollout is slower as devices in the second batch are still receiving the update. According to reports, Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite MIUI 12.5 update has been released for the global models.
For starters, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite that’s receiving the new MIUI OS is a reworked Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G for the Chinese market. It’s the same device as Mi 10i but exclusive to Indians, meaning the update will soon start seeding in that region. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has already received the update in China, so India and other regions should be next.
Meanwhile, the Mi 10T Lite MIUI 12.5 update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJSMIXM – and weighs 873MB. As anticipated, the update brings the features of the new MIUI OS, which are essentially an improvement to the system. It also bumps the Android security patch level to May 2021 to increase system security and stability.
And while MIUI 12.5 has supposedly improved system performance, there are bugs introduced by Android 11 that are yet to be fixed. They include the ugly square chat bubbles and third-party launchers compatibility issues. Hopefully, a new update will arrive in the future that’s going to address them and more that are plaguing Xiaomi phones. Xiaomi has started deploying the MIUI 12.5 update in Taiwan to the Mi 10T Lite. The update is hitting select users with a version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RJSTWXM – and brings the features of the new MIUI OS.
