Xiaomi is working to debut the stable Android 12-based MIUI 13 update in the coming days. According to reports, the Chinese tech company will release the upcoming MIUI build on December 28. It’s expected that after the unveiling, a stable update will be released to a handful of their phones. However, the list has been increasing in the past few days, with the Mi 11 Lite 5G and Redmi K40 / POCO F3 stable Android 12-based MIUI 13 build also ready.
It looks like Xiaomi will be changing its approach with the stable MIUI 13 release. Not only would the stable version be released immediately after the launch, the update will also come with Android 12. Perhaps, the MIUI 13 build is only a minor upgrade, like the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced that’s rolling out at the moment. However, it will be the first time a new MIUI update will arrive with the current Android version on release without closed beta tests.
Luckily, the Mi 11 Lite 5G and Redmi K40 / POCO F3 stable Android 12-based MIUI 13 build will be arriving on the supposed December 28 launch. Xiaomi just released a stable “MIUI 13.0.1.0 SKHCNXM” for the Redmi K40 and MIUI “13.0.2.0 SKICNXM” for the Mi 11 Lite 5G. Both are stable MIUI 13 builds based on Android 12, and we expect the release after that official unveiling. They have joined the Mi 11 Ultra / Pro, Xiaomi Mi 11, and Redmi K40 Pro/ Plus as the only phones to receive MIUI 13 in the coming days.
Of course, the rollout will start in China, while the global rollout might not start until January. It seems Xiaomi is taking the MIUI 12.5 enhanced update approach of no closed beta tests. And if that’s the case, we expect the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G and Redmi K40 / POCO F3 stable Android 12-based MIUI 13 update in January 2022.
