A few days ago, the Xiaomi Mi A3 users woke up to a 1.40GB OTA update that appears to bring the July security patch. But unfortunately, it was something entirely different after they downloaded the update. It disabled the device Dual-SIM functionality, changed the boot animation logo, and then added two system apps.
The update had a weird version number “V11.0.3.0.QFQMXTC”, but, unfortunately, you can’t see the version number of Xiaomi Android One updates until you finish installing it. That’s probably the reason many users installed the buggy update. The company reacted almost immediately by releasing a statement, which reads:
We are aware of the software update issue on a few Mi A3 devices. On further investigation, we have identified it to be a technical issue due to which a software update not meant for Indian users, was shared inadvertently. This issue has been fixed already from our side and our technical teams are working on a recovery solution that will be rolled out soon.

Effective enough, a new update is now released for the device. It fixes the Dual-SIM functionality, removed the Telcel logo in boot animation, and also the two Telcel apps. The patch level didn’t change, but it has got the device back on Global firmware version ” QFQMIXM.”
The new update is arriving for everyone. It has a version number “V11.0.17.0 QFQMIXM”, and weighs in at 27.37MB. Those who didn’t get on the first build that disabled the phones Dual-SIM functionality are getting a big 1.33GB sized package, which has got some users asking questions.
However, according to those who already got on the update, both are saved and work very fine. As such, you should download once you get a prompt notification for a new update.
