After nearly three years, Xiaomi came back to the Tablet market with a bang. The company recently announced two Tablets in China – Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro and Mi Pad 5. Both feature a tall display and a premium Qualcomm Snapdragon SOC. Interestingly, they have a beefy battery, and with the absence of cellular connectivity (Mi Pad 5), that’s days battery on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Mi Pad 5 Pro starts at $385, which is equivalent to CNY 2,499.

After some time on the sidelines, everyone expected Xiaomi to be back with a bang in the Tablet market. And they did. The Mi Pad 5 Pro has all the current trends of tablets. It supports a stylus pen and magnetic keyboard cover, with a battery that can go eight hours on a single charge.

Meanwhile, the Tablet is designed with a combination of Glass, aluminum, and high-quality craftsmanship. With a 6.9mm thick body, that’s one of the slimmest you can get out there. Around the front panel is a thick bezel that houses the front-facing camera at the top. The back features a camera island and Xiaomi crest right down the bottom. There are four Dolby Atmos speakers – two each at the top and bottom frame.

The Tablet sports an 11-inches IPS LCD 2560 X 1600pixel resolution panel. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 500 nits of brightness. Also, the panel is HDR10 compatible, meaning it will playback videos at higher definition. There’s also support for TrueTone technology, Dolby Vision to improve the colors.

With a premium processor under the hood, the Tablet will deliver peak performance. The 7nm Snapdragon 870 SoC is aided by 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. There’s an Adreno 660 GPU to complete the features already integrated into the display for detailed images. Outside of the box, you get MIUI for Pad on top of Android 11.

Of course, Tablets are not expected to sport the best camera hardware out there, but still, Xiaomi tries to make it look like that. They have equipped the Mi Pad 5 Pro with a primary 50MP snapper with a 5MP depth sensor. The senior can shoot 4k@30fps while the front 8MP snapper is capped at 1080p@30fps.

There’s a massive 8600mAh battery inside the 6.9mm thick body of the Mi Pad 5 Pro. Interestingly, it supports 67W fast charging support, which will deliver a fully charged battery in less than an hour. Unfortunately, there’s no fingerprint scanner, and hence, you have to use in-built security features.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro price starts at $385 for the base 6/128GB models and goes up to $430 for the 6/256GB variants. Top of the line 8/256GB version sets you back $540 and it is already up for pre-order in China.
