Xiaomi is expected to launch its next iteration of MIUI (MIUI 13) next month, but it seems the MIUI 13 launch isn’t imminent as the Android skin is still being refined. Initially, the upcoming Mi Mix flagship phone was said to run the MIUI 13 outside of the box, but that probably won’t happen, given the recent report. The supposed Mi Mix 4 will launch with MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11 since the MIUI 13 is still undergoing some polishing.
When Xiaomi announced the Mi 11 Ultra / Pro at the beginning of the year, many people expected it to run MIUI 12.5 outside the box. Instead, the duo debuted with MIUI 12. According to Xiaomi, the reason was that during the time of development, MIUI 12.5 wasn’t ready, and so, they had to pre-install a stable ROM, which was MIUI 12. Of course, both phones now run MIUI 12.5 and will probably be the first to receive MIUI 13.
That said, we expect the same situation with the upcoming Mi Mix 4 flagship device. According to a leakster on Weibo, MIUI 13 won’t debut with the Mi Mix 4. That’s because the next Xiaomi Android skin is not ready yet. Wang Hua of the Public Relations Department affirmed that, saying MIUI 13 is still being polished. Also, it will give way to experience optimization. That probably means that MIUI 13 will focus on optimization as well as stability. And from the rumored features so far, this seems to be the case as they’re focused on improvement.
Nevertheless, we still anticipate the Xiaomi MIUI 13 launch next month. However, with the new development, it might debut towards the end. But with Xiaomi full of surprises, we will wait till Mi Mix launches to be sure it won’t debut the MIUI 13.
