For years, Google has tried to close the gap between its Android platform and Apple iOS when it comes to security. Of course, Android is ahead when it comes to features, given that OEMs are allowed to made modifications with their Android skin. A good example is Xiaomi MIUI on top of Android, which has fascinating features, some of which we are yet to find out. Of course, they also take security seriously and haven’t left it solemnly in the hands of Google. The company, with each iteration of MIUI, improves the security of their phones running MIUI. And they have just made another step with the introduction of Xiaomi MIUI pure mode.
More reason why iOS will always remain ahead when it comes to security is that, unlike Android, Apple iOs is a closed system. It’s almost impossible to install a third-party app without going through the Apple store. Also, flashing custom ROM to customize an Apple phone is not what people do on a daily. However, Android users can avoid doing these things that expose them to security threats by limiting app download to the play store and GetApps. And with the introduction of Xiaomi MIUI pure mode, that can be possible if you want.
Xiaomi MIUI pure mode
Xiaomi MIUI pure mode is the company’s way to prevent the installation of malicious applications that pose threat to your device security. Some APK files contain viruses, Trojans, malware, etc. To limit the installation of applications like that, Xiaomi has introduced the MIUI pure mode. It will block the installation of applications from unknown sources. With the function enabled, the GetApps stores will be the only place to download and install applications.
Of course, that’s a good move for people that regard their privacy. However, many people turn to Android because of that privilege to customize their phones without restrictions. Probably with that in mind, Xiaomi made it optional to use the MIUI pure mode function. Users can activate and deactivate at will, and it will start deployment in China.
The first beta version of the MIUI pure mode will be released on September 6. Hopefully, it will enter a stable version before the arrival of MIUI 13. That way, the global users can receive the feature with the upcoming MIUI version.
