Xiaomi Pad 5 Android 12 development version now available in China
Xiaomi Pad 5 Android 12 build has been in development for months, with the initial testing suspended after the Android 12L release. Perhaps Xiaomi wants to utilize Google’s Android OS for bigger displays. And after the suspension of the Android 11-based MIUI 13 development version, the company is now rolling out the Xiaomi Pad 5 Android 12 update to closed beta testers.
On May 23, Xiaomi suspended beta releases based on Android 11 to the Pad 5 series users. According to the release Note, the next release will base on Android 12, which is now available in China. It is the closed beta testers receiving the upgrade for the first time, and we expect a stable release for the public in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, if you are among the closed beta testers, you can download the Xiaomi Pad 5 Android 12 development version via the updater app. The update is seeding with a version number MIUI 13 V22.6.2. It is china exclusive, meaning only Chinese and English languages are available. Also, it might take some time to get Google apps to work on the device, and we recommend waiting for the OTA to arrive.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi didn’t say when, but if everything goes as planned, we could see the stable version in two weeks. Global, Indian, and European will also follow after the Chinese stable release, which is another reason to update to the latest version of MIUI.
