Xiaomi has been testing the Android 13 build for months now. The company announced a beta recruitment exercise after the I/O 2022 event, inviting people to test the upcoming Android OS. Initially, they released a stocked Android, but now integrated with MIUI. Perhaps why more Xiaomi phones are currently testing the Android 13-based MIUI build.
Google recently released a minor upgrade to beta testers that arrived as Android 13 beta 4.1 to put the finishing touches before the consumer version is released in the coming weeks. We expect Xiaomi to start seeding the update to eligible users once the update is made available by Google, and hence the company has added more devices to its testing list.
A total of 28 Xiaomi and Redmi phones are currently testing the Android 13-based MIUI build. The new OS arrived with a recently released closed beta V22.7.22 for developers, meaning it can’t be accessed. However, it means the company will start rolling out the update once it becomes available.
Interestingly, Xiaomi is testing the build for Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, meaning both devices will run the new Android OS outside-of-the box. It will be based on MIUI 14, which the details surfaced some days ago.
