POCO M2 Pro specs
POCO M2 Pro is a rebadged Redmi Note 9 Pro. Both devices share the same design and build, except for the gradient finish used on the former. It gives the back panel a refreshing look and makes it stand out.
Around the back is a square camera bump housing the four lenses. The LED flash sits just below the arrangement, and on the lower part is the POCO logo. Around the front panel is a dot display with a thin bezel while the scanner comes off the power button. At the bottom is the speaker grills, close to the USB-C port, and the 3.5mm headphone jack.
POCO M2 Pro display
The bezels have got slimmer, and the display is now bigger. It’s a big 6.67-inch LCD panel sitting in front of the POCO M2 Pro with FHD+ 1080 x 2400p resolution. It can reach peak 500nits brightness under light and still maintain accurate colors. Unfortunately, it refreshes at 60Hz but will give you a quick response time.
Meanwhile, to make sure each fall won’t have you replacing the display, there’s a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against mild fall and scratch.
POCO M2 Pro performance
The latest AnTuTu top 10 best performing mid-range phones shows that Snapdragon 720G, which runs inside the POCO M2 Pro, is behind the Redmi Note 8 Pro with Mediatek G90T, in terms of performance, at least. The SD 720G is seventh on the list, but if you’re not a heavy gamer, the POCO M2 Pro is probably the right choice.
Snapdragon processor means more community support: flash Custom ROM easily and install Gcam. It also comes with other perks, and most of the time, maintain peak performance longer than Mediatek devices.
Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 720G is on an 8nm process. It’s power-efficient and with a frequency speed of 2.3GHz, and coupled with up to 8GB, you’re sure of a peak performance always. Outside-of-the-box, you get Android 10 based on MIUI 11, with an added flavor, POCO launcher.
POCO M2 Pro camera
The camera lens is the same as that of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. It’s a primary 48MP snapper paired with 8MP ultrawide-angle-lens, 5MP macro shooter, and 2MP depth sensor, while the front snapper is 16MP for taking trendy selfie shots.
The POCO M2 Pro, when it comes to smartphone photography, is behind the F2 Pro and POCO X2. Both phones feature a primary 64MP lens, and technically, would take better shots compared to the M2 Pro.
POCO M2 Pro battery
Unlike the Note 9 Pro, you refill the big 5000mAh battery faster with a 33W fast charging solution. It should take about 63 minutes to juice up the device from 0-100%. And coupled with the power-efficient processor, you will get days on standby and up to six hours gaming.
Other POCO M2 Pro specs include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, IR blaster, and Dual SIM cards.
POCO M2 Pro price and availability
The POCO M2 Pro price starts at $185 for the base 6/64GB version while the 6/128GB combo will set you back $200. The more premium 8/128GB cost an additional $50 and will be available from July 17TH in colors of Blue, Green and Greener, and Two Shades of Black.
