MIUI 13MIUI updates

Xiaomi presents MIUI 13 globally: Xiaomi 11T, Xiaomi 11T Pro, Mi 11 Lite 5G to lead the rollout

Xiaomi has now presented the latest iteration of MIUI – MIUI 13 globally. That’s roughly one month after the Chinese unveiling, and given the features of both versions ( Global and Chinese), there’s still a gap between the two. Nevertheless, we expect some features missing on the global version of MIUI 13 to arrive in subsequent builds, at least for premium phones.

Global MIUI 13 roadmap

The Chinese unveiling of MIUI 13 took place on December 28, in an event that saw the unveiling of Xiaomi 12 series phones. Although the build debuted with limited features, it seems only a few made it to the global version. Interestingly, Xiaomi might have brought the feature of the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition as MIUI 13 for the global models.

Going by the features presented during the announcement of MIUI 13 globally, the latest iteration of MIUI brings Atomized Memory, Liquid Storage, Focused Algorithm, and Smart Balance. These are features of the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced, meaning that MIUI 13 might be a reworked version of the latter. However, since the current version is perhaps an improved version of the predecessor, maybe that’s the reason for what’s on the changelog.

The global models will also get a sidebar. It’s a function that sits on the side of the screen to access your frequently used apps. Interestingly, it can be enabled on Xiaomi phones running MIUI 12.5 lower from this link. Hopefully, there will be other minor additions when the update starts rolling out widely.

According to the global MIUI 13 roadmap, the rollout will commence in Q1 2022. But as usual, the update has already arrived on Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 10 Pro, and Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G. It’s expected to become available for the Redmi 10 and Redmi 10 JE in the coming days. Below is the complete list of phones to receive MIUI 13 globally.
