Xiaomi is gradually winding down the Android 10 rollout for the Redmi 7 series. A few weeks ago, the company released a stable Android 10 for the Redmi 7A in China, which is now available for the Global variant. The Redmi Note 7 Pro has also received a stable Android 10 update, based on MIUI 11, amid the reports that the update will arrive with MIUI 12. And now, the Redmi 7 Android 10 has gone live in China.
The update is arriving with a build number, MIUI 11.0.1.0 PFLCNXM, and weighs in at 2.0GB. It bumps the security patch level to June while improving the system security and fixing bugs.
Note: the Xiaomi Redmi 7 Android 10 update is a cross-section upgrade, and some apps are yet to adapt to the new OS. It’s recommended you perform a factory reset to avoid any compatibility issues, but make sure to backup your files before.
Meanwhile, the Global users of the Xiaomi Redmi 7 are also getting a new stable update. The update carries a build number, MIUI 11.0.6.0 PFLMIXM, and weighs in at 439MB. It bumps the Android Security patch to June, while improving the system security, but unfortunately, it’s based on Android 9.
It’s not surprising seeing the Xiaomi Redmi 7 Android 10 update arrive for the Chinese users first. That has been Xiaomi’s policy of rolling out Major updates. But the fact that the company has initiated the rollout, means it will soon start arriving for global users.
Considering that Xiaomi is suspending all office work, including update deployment from June 26Th to July 3, and also coupled with the fact that it takes a minimum of two weeks before for Global releases, the global users might have to wait till July for the OS upgrade. It’s also possible the update will arrive with MIUI 12, since the second wave of the update is expected to start rolling out next month, and Redmi 7 is on the list.
