The Redmi sub-brand will add to its portfolio a new phone on March 12, in India. It will officially announce the successor of the Redmi Note 8, which debuted a few months ago running Android 9 based on MIUI 11.
The company will seek to continue it’s dominance when it comes to the mid-range device, when they officially announce the Redmi Note 9. According, to rumors, it will debut with the SD 720G and will be paired with up to 8GB RAM. The internal memory will be up to 128GB, and of course, there’ll be an option for expansion.
There’s no news about the size of the display, but we expect the phone to debut with a tall Full HD+ screen and a punch hole for the selfie camera. The rear camera will be a quad arrangement of primary 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP sensors.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 will draw power from a 4000mAh battery that supports fast charge via USB-C port. It will run MIUI 11 outside the box ontop Android 10 and will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. Meanwhile, the Pro variant is touted to feature Mediatek Dimensity 800 SoC, 5000mAh battery and a primary 64MP rear camera.
It was Manu Kumar, Xiaomi executive who tweeted about the coming of the Redmi Note 9. According to his tweet, he said that the Redmi Note 9 is somewhere in the image above. And looking closely, we could see it under the newspaper as the one he’s holding is already launched Xiaomi phone.
The Indian twitter then confirmed the Redmi Note 9 is coming while also tweeting the date as well. According to the tweet ” brace yourself for the biggest #Redmi product launch of 2020!. #ProcameraMaxperformance is going to be nothing like you have ever seen before! A new #Redmi Note is coming March 12!”
The event will likely see the Redmi Note 9 debut with the Pro variant. For now, we can only confirm the date of the launch and some of the specs. We hope to get more details of the device in the coming days…
