On May 19, Xiaomi will introduce the MIUI 12 Globally. The company is currently recruiting Global Mi pilots that will test the new Android skin before the public rollout. The Redmi 7 will be among the early adopters of the next MIUI ROM, but now a new Redmi 7 Global stable is arriving. It’s a surprising 1.8GB package, which brings just an April security patch and improved system security.

Aside from the changes that appeared in the Changelog, the update also fixed bugs and optimized system performance. But that still doesn’t justify the big package, perhaps this particular device skipped the last security update, before this current build.
Nevertheless, the new Redmi 7 Global stable update will progressively arrive on all compatible devices with time. It will arrive via OTA, and you can as well check your Updater app to see if anything is there yet.
Yes, the update is safe, no issue has been reported after the upgrade. About when the device will start getting the Android 10 update, it’s now clear the update will arrive with the MIUI 12. But unfortunately, we don’t know when the Global Stable ROM will start arriving. We hope to learn about that during the global unveiling schedule on May 19, 2020.
