The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 series was the company’s most popular phone last year in terms of sales. It was among the driving forces that helped the company to exceed over 200 million sold Redmi Note series phones. Probably, due to that, Xiaomi, towards the tail of last year, announced the device, will receive another Android OS upgrade. That will see the device receive the Android 11 update, which is currently under testing in China. However, it’s not the first time a device launched under the Redmi Note series will receive a two OS upgrade. The Redmi Note 5/Pro debuted with Android 7 but currently runs Android 9.
The Redmi Note 8 series, which comprises the Note 8T, will also receive the MIUI 12.5 update. However, it’s currently unclear when the update will start seeding. The official list of phones to receive the update from Q2 (April) didn’t include the device. That means the device will probably receive the update much later. But given how fast the company has been pushing out updates, we might see the Redmi Note 8T Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 update arrive sooner than expected.
And from all indications, both updates might arrive at the same thing. Xiaomi is expected to roll out the Redmi Note 8T Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 update simultaneously as they did with the just concluded MIUI 12 rollout. But while we’re optimistic about that happening, the ETA remains unknown. Even the Moderator in the Mi Community forum, when quizzed on the arrival of the update, said there’s none at the moment.
Nevertheless, we’ll be on the lookout for additional information as regards the Redmi Note 8T Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 update. Hopefully, Xiaomi will release more eligible devices that’ll receive the MIUI 12.5 update and their expected rollout time frame.
