In November 2019, Xiaomi released Mi CC9 Pro with a primary 108MP sensor. It was the first device to sport the big camera shooter, and after a couple of days, arrived on the global market. The company offered the device as Xiaomi Mi Note 10 / Pro, which outside-of-the-box runs Android Pie on top of MIUI 11. They have already rolled out Android 10 and 11 for the device, and that’s where the journey ends for a new OS update. And having received just a single iteration of MIUI since hitting the shelves, it’s eligible for the MIUI 13. Meanwhile, it will get MIUI 12.5 first, and according to reports, the device is now receiving the much-anticipated update.
As usual, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 / Pro MIUI 12.5 update is a limited rollout to preview the build for bugs. It will last for a couple of days, after which the public rollout will commence, but that’s if no performance-threatening bug is detected. However, given the feedback so far, there haven’t been any reported issues, and hence, we expect the update to arrive for a wider population soon.
The update will arrive with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RFDMIXM. The changes include instant response to gestures, reduced power consumption and background memory usage. Xiaomi claims to have reduced it to about 25%, thereby improving the performance of its phones. They also revamped the Note App and adjusted the Xiaomi Mi cloud to report location automatically before a device is powered off.
Unfortunately, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 / Pro MIUI 12.5 couldn’t address the third-party launcher problems. You’ve got to stick with the system launcher until Xiaomi sorts the issues out. The update has a version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RFDRUXM – and brings features of the new MIUI OS. Finally, the Mi Note 10 / Pro in Europe have started receiving the much-anticipated MIUI 12.5 update. It comes with the May security patch to show that the build has been in development for some time now. However, it has been released and you can download the ROM here.
