How to Fix Overheating Issues on iPhone 12

1. Avoid hot environments

According to apple, the recommended temperature range for typical iPhone operations is between 0 and 35 degrees Celsius. If you use your iPhone in an environment where the temperature is above 35 degrees Celsius, it will overheat. It’s all right! Allow your iPhone to cool down by resting it from time to time. If you live in that location, there isn’t much you can do to escape the heat.

2. Remove phone cases or covers

Avoid using covers or cases that are too bulky or don’t have enough area to dissipate heat. The phone will overheat if the case traps heat created by your iPhone (which happens even with light use). Experiment with removing the cover to see if the problem is caused by the cover or not.

3. Examine your charger

Is your charger defective, counterfeit, or a low-cost replacement? Make sure the charger you’re using is MFi certified. Anything that isn’t MFi approved isn’t meant to be used with an iPhone. They can cause not just overheating, but also harm to your phone. Simply purchase an appropriate charger, and the problem may be resolved.

4. Disable Bluetooth, mobile data, WiFi, hotspot, and location services on your device

These services aren’t required all of the time. It doesn’t make sense to keep these services running while you go to bed, for example. They not only drain the battery, but they also heat up the phone, diminishing battery health and, as a result, battery life. When you’re not using them, turn them off. Directly from the Control Center, you can turn them off.

5. Switch to low-power mode

When you enable this option, all background services which may drain the battery and possibly cause your iPhone to overheat will be deactivated. Your phone will remain cool as a result of this.

To turn on Low Power Mode, go to Settings, then Battery, then Low Power Mode, and turn it on.
