More leaks have surfaced about Apple’s A17 Bionic chip, the chipset to debut on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro series, and it might outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This can be discerned from the Geekbench score examination carried out by sources.

Details on Apple’s A17 Bionic chip Geekbench

Apple’s next-generation SoC, the A17 Bionic, allegedly has Geekbench results that showed a 20% performance boost over the A16 Bionic. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will compete with the A17 Bionic at the end of the year, but it looks Apple will maintain its performance superiority.

According to rumors, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be unable to compete with Apple’s A17 Bionic-at least in terms of CPU performance. However, it looks like the next-generation Qualcomm chipset will only be able to match the performance of the A16 Bionic, with the A17 Bionic continuing the tradition of Apple’s premium SoC being a generation ahead of Qualcomm’s.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to score between 1750 and 1800 on Geekbench 5’s single-core test, and between 6450 and 6500 on the multi-core test. In those tests, the A16 Bionic on the iPhone 14 Pro phones averaged around 1880 and 5450. According to the same source, the A17 Bionic scores roughly 2300 on Geekbench 5’s single-core test.

In any event, none of this is shocking. As previously stated, Apple’s Bionic chipsets have a generational edge over Qualcomm’s competitors. Moreover, the A17 Bionic is expected to be constructed on TSMC’s 3 nm node, whereas the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will continue to be built on a 4 nm process.
