Redmi Note 9 5G / Redmi Note 9T starts receiving Android 11 with stable MIUI 12.5 update

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with Xiaomi phones without complicating them. For instance, there’s global Redmi Note 9 series and a different version for the Chinese markets. The Chinese version is also available globally under monikers like Redmi Note 9T, Redmi 9T, and Mi 10T Lite / Mi 10i. One of them, Redmi Note 9 5G / Redmi Note 9T, is now receiving a new MIUI 12.5 update in China, which brings along the much-anticipated Android 11. 

The latest Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update for Redmi Note 9 5G / Redmi Note 9T is a stable release. It has a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJECNXM – and weighs in at 2.7GB. Arriving with the update is optimization and bug fixes, with Xiaomi claiming to reduce power consumption and background memory usage by 25%. They’ve also made it possible to uninstall some system apps, but the Google framework has been disabled in this update for the Chinese ROM users.

Google is restricted in China, and due to that fact, ROM developed for use in that country doesn’t come pre-installed with Google play services. However, you can easily install the update on your Xiaomi phones until the recent development, where Xiaomi had to disable the Google framework.
