According to Evina’s security researcher Maxime Ingrao, the Autolycos malware has been operating secretly on the Google Play store, quite sad. The functionality of the malware is the secret subscribing of users to premium services. This is quite inconvenient given the fact that it rips people of money scheduled for other expenses.

Unfortunately, it was further reported that the apps infected with the Autolycos malware have been installed up to 3 million times across Android devices.

Meanwhile, sometime in June 2021, the malware was reported to Google by the same researcher, Ingrao. However, Google took about 6 months to remove the apps infected with malware of which there were still two left out on the Play store.
