Bluetooth and 5G issues on Google Pixel phone gets a fix

Earlier on, we got reports that some Pixel users were facing Bluetooth and 5G issues – that is a connectivity problem. Users took to Reddit and other social media platforms as well as issue threads to lay out their complaints and it seems the Big G has rolled out a fix for the Bluetooth and 5G issues.

The Pixel owners will be getting a software update that will be bringing in these fixes(according to the brand)

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented devices from automatically connecting to a 5G network even when it was available. (Issue #265093352)
  • Fixed an issue where devices did not drop or reset an existing, encrypted Bluetooth connection after receiving a command to disable link-layer encryption for that connection.

It is also worth noting that the update is the Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2.1 update(T2B2.221216.008), an addition to the other QPR updates that have been released earlier. According to the preview timeline, the stable version of the update will be landing sometime in March after which we will be entering the season of Android 14 – but that’s by the way.

“If you’re already enrolled in the Android 13 beta QPR2 and your device is running Beta 2, you will automatically receive an over-the-air (OTA) update to Beta 2.1. If your device is still on Beta 1, you will automatically receive the Beta 2.1 patch once you update to Beta 2.” Asides from the fix for Bluetooth and 5G issues, the January security patch is also integrated into this software update.

Availability of the fix for Bluetooth and 5G issues

Luckily, the Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2.1 update will be rolling out to a vast majority of Pixel devices. By that, we mean that the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro will be partaking of this update. Meanwhile, should you notice any issues or features you want to report to the brand, you can make use of the Android feedback app.
