Xiaomi debuted the Redmi Note 7 in January 2019 running Stable Android 10 based on MIUI 10. After a month, the company released the Redmi Note 7 Pro into the market with Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 Octa-Core processor. The device also runs Stable Android Pie on top MIUI 10.
Over the past year, there have been some changes. Both devices were upgraded to MIUI 11, and also eligible to receive MIUI 12 in the coming month. But because MIUI updates and Android OS upgrades are agnostic, the device is yet to receive an OS update. That’s for the Global variants, though.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro started receiving a Stable Android 10 update in China a few days ago. The update started arriving after the entry-level Redmi 7A banged Android 10. However, the Redmi Note 7 is still languishing in Android Pie, but it seems that it’s about to change.
Redmi Note 7 indeed received Android 10 last year in China, but that’s Beta ROM. According to a Moderator in the Mi community forum, the device will start receiving a stable Android 10 update this month. Reports such as this one are best taken with a pinch of salt since Moderators are not always right when it comes to time frames for updates. But since the Redmi 7A and Redmi Note 7 Pro have both received a stable Android 10 update, it’s probably the Redmi Note 7 Android 10 update that is happening next.
Also, the update is now even overdue. Google is currently testing Android 11 with some Xiaomi phones joining the testing. It won’t be long again till the stable version is released. The Redmi Note 7 is eligible for one OS upgrade according to the Xiaomi policy of rolling out updates. We believe the Redmi Note 7 Android 10 update is going to happen very soon, this month probably.
Another interesting thing is that the update is now likely to arrive before the MIUI 12 update. The device is scheduled to receive a stable MIUI 12 later next month, and since the Redmi Note 7 Android 10 update is expected to arrive this month, that’s going to arrive with MIUI 11.
